Have Some Fun!

‘Live your life. Take chances. Be Crazy. Don’t wait. Because right now is the oldest you’ve ever been and the youngest you’ll ever be again.’ Quote by Suzanne Collins.

We so need to remember this. Life is so short and what will our last questions be to ourselves? ‘Did I work hard enough?’ or ‘Did I enjoy my life?’

You would like to say yes to both, but if you had to choose?

I would like to be able to say ‘I had an amazing life…I had friends and family who loved me and who I loved back. I had fun, my life was joyful and I made a positive difference to some other lives’.

That is it for me…nothing else will be important on the last day of my life.

We need to be selfish, to put ourselves first. If we value ourselves then we can value other people.

My children are the most important people in my life and I would put them before myself any day…but in a sustainable world, do they want a mother who has no self -worth? Do they want me to sacrifice what I enjoy so they can fulfil their lives?

No. They tell me to put myself first. They want me to have great holidays, to spend my money on experiences I will enjoy. They want me to be as happy as they are. Then we can discuss our adventures, laugh at our blunders and be interesting people.

Idea for today: What makes you happy? Book an experience.

We may not have a lot of money…but that should not make a difference. It costs nothing to smile and we can be creative with our finances. We know that random acts of kindness can make the giver as happy as the receiver, so we could volunteer at a place that we feel is important to us. We all have more time than we think…I totally believe that if something is important to you, you will find the time for it. Who has said to their child…”Sorry I have not got time to read you your bedtime story tonight?” or “Sorry, I cannot come to your fifth birthday party…I have a lot on”.

It is the same throughout your life…if you believe it is important you will find the time and we need to find more time for fun.

I recently agreed to go tubing with our staff as part of our well- being team events. I did not think about it until the week of the event and then realised I could end up with broken bones...being a 50 something year old, unsporty person. I actually became really worried “What have I signed up to?” “They will all be fine and I will break my leg”. Just simple concerns over my physical well –being!

But I took a chance. A crazy chance. And I loved it! OK, I screamed the whole time and was convinced I would not come out without an injury, but it was FUN! I survived with no broken bones, not even a bruise!

We need more fun in our lives so take a crazy chance!
